Let me tell you a secret about me that’s not secret at all: I love a good adult beverage. I mean, don’t we all? Haha.
When Erin sent me this “SubLIME” fabric from her new lineup of The Real Thing custom prints, I was instantly inspired to whip up this new tanktop and make myself some Moscow Mules. They are 100% my favorite summertime drink and any excuse to make one (even if it’s the middle of the day and I need to take some sewing promo photos) is a good enough excuse for me. They are insanely refreshing and delicious. Plus you feel like your life is really together, even if it’s clearly not, when you drink it out of a special copper cup.
I’m not much of a cocktail kind of girl…if it takes more than a few steps, I probably won’t make it for myself. Here’s how I put together my favorite Moscow Mule:
— 2 ounces of vodka
— 1/2 of a fresh squeezed lime (alternately, you can use 1 oz lime juice)
— Lime wedge for garnish (optional)
— 6 oz Ginger Beer (my all time favorite is Cock’n Bull!)
How-to: Squeeze lime (or pour lime juice) into the bottom of copper mug. Add ice. Pour in vodka. Top with Ginger Beer. Stir and garnish with lime wedge. Drink. Repeat.
Okay, okay. Enough about booze. Shall we talk about the fabric?
This was the first time I was sent a TTF fabric on their bamboo lycra base. I’m 100% certain it’s all I ever want to sew with again. Bamboo lycra is so soft, has the perfect drape and is super stretchy with a great recovery. I also adore the weight of it. Sometimes drape equals a thinner fabric but this is on the thicker side and feels sturdy. I love it!

I also love this style of tank top and I think it’s going to live with me all summer long. I’ve been going through an “I hate my arms” stage for quite some time now…but I’m also hot in the summer and don’t always want sleeves. For some reason, this angled style makes me hate my arms less. It opens up just perfectly and seems to balance out my shoulders for a more slimming look. Who knew?
