Naughty Nice PJs by Patterns for Pirates

Dec 7, 2018

OH. EM. GEE.  When Judy said that she wanted to do a onesie pajama, I was like “Stop it. No you’re not.  There’s zero chance you’re going to get me to wear one of those.”  And then like always she proved me wrong.  And I made two of them.  And I have more snaps on the way so I can make more.  Whoops.

Today we get to welcome the newest pattern to the Patterns for Pirates Lineup: Naughty Nice PJs.  Yayyyyy!

Like all of the P4P patterns, there are a million ways to mix-match the options to make a million different versions for yourself.  I made two and just by swapping fabric types and the cut, they’re totally different and I love both of them so much.  Let’s talk about them both, shall we?

First up was this purple number.  If you know anything about me, you know that I love purple.  And plaid.  So purple plaid is like fabric sent to me from the heavens.  I made the ankle length, long sleeved version and threw on (what felt like) 32804832 snaps.  It was my first time using snaps instead of buttons and apparently I got really excited about it.  (Also don’t look too closely at my placket because it’s pulling weird and I figured out why after I was too tired to fix it before photos…….sigh.)

Judy named this pattern specifically for the front placket part.  Less buttons = naughty.  More buttons = nice.  I know it’s hard to believe, but husbands, wives and all significant others are actually loving all versions of these.  Because HELLO cleavage!  Throw this on and all housework that you’ve failed to do is immediately forgotten.  Ha.

I actually slept in this one last night.  It was super cozy and I didn’t freeze in our old, drafty house.  It’s a thumbs up from this redhead!

The second version I made was actually for the hacks blog post that I participated in with my girls.  Though the pattern doesn’t include a hood, it’s easy enough to add one.  I foresee using this hack often for Halloween and Cosplay costumes.  Especially for the youth version of this pattern….for Louis’ outfits.

But it’s not Halloween right now, is it?  It’s Christmas.  How could I possibly make anything but a sexy Santa style version of this pattern?  I MEAN.

The fabric is a stretch velvet that I found at JoAnn fabrics.  Minus the fact that there was fuzz EVERYWHERE after I cut out my pattern pieces, I’m super glad I impulsively grabbed it while shopping the other day.  I used the 3/4 sleeves, and the shorties cutline for this version — I didn’t think I’d like this length on me (because cheese eating season) but I actually do.  It’s sexy, it’s comfy, and it’s easy to wear.

Can we talk about how hard it is to photograph yourself in a dimly lit house, in front of Christmas tree lights?  Goodness!

Now go grab this pattern for yourself!
