Embarking. Upon some sewing with my Momma this week.  This woman taught me how to use a sewing machine.  And here I am, teaching her how to sew apparel.  It’s so funny to me that I’m the teacher in this instance.  She asked me to help her make a couple gifts for coworkers and we spent some time together doing just that.  You don’t realize how different your sewing techniques are until you sew with someone who has already established theirs as well.  I hardly pin, don’t have absolute precision, and just let it all work itself out.  She’s exactly the opposite.

Enjoying.  The new appliance that’s living in Bennett’s comic book room.  We’ve got ourselves a full sized kegerator, my friends!  Bennett and I drilled a hole into the front of the fridge that had been hanging out in our garage for a while.  The conversion process was so much easier than I had anticipated.  And now we have a locally brewed IIPA on tap, ready to drink whenever we want.  It’s love!

Experimenting. With rearranging at the office.  Oh my goodness, if anyone needs a major purge, it’s the people that I work with.  Most of them have been employed there for 10+ years…which means that most of them have 10+ years of paperwork, magazines, and office supplies that are just stashed away somewhere, being ignored.  I’ve been upsetting their usual workflow by moving furniture, throwing away things we don’t need, and forcing them to clean here and there.  On Thursday, our administrative team decided we wanted to take over the entire room that’s been the copy room for the last 2309823098 years.  And we did.  It might not look like much to you, but to be able to have this space for collaborating with my team is so god damned wonderful.  I just kept staring at it on Thursday and Friday, admiring our new open space.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

I don’t drink beer, but a kegerator sounds awesome!! Also, those shirts your mom made are awesome! Where did the knit sewing machine panel come from?

The kegerator may be too convenient for us craft beer obsessed people. But sometimes we only go out to dinner because we want something on tap. So this might help save money?? 🤞

The fair isle design is one that I created! It’s in my shop: https://threadandgrain.com/product/fair-isle-sewing/

Okay, so first, I love that you want to collaborate with your team! Like, why is it so weird that I want to go to work and work with other people who do that I do? I don’t want to sit alone at my desk! I get ideas from interacting! I get motivated! Like okay, I’m gonna go do my thing and you go do your thing and then check back in? let’s do this!

Thank you for ushering in collaboration and helping the world realize the factory method of just doing your thing (even if you’re taking off the part the person in front of you on the assembly line just put on) without asking why or without considering what everyone else is doing and how you fit into that isn’t relevant now that we’re not a manufacturing based economy. So much better for our mental health and work products! You go Katy!

As for mom and her pins. Wow! LOL That is my life! My mom (who taught me to sew) came over 4th of July and we had almost the exact same experience. She said something like “knits must be more forgiving” because I don’t use a hem gauge and etc.
