Quoting. Franklin Thomas this morning, on one of the early days of Black History Month.

“One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings.”

But also sitting back and doing a lot of listening and learning from the black community, and talking with Louis about race, differences in human beings, and our responsibilities for now and the future.  While we still live in a very small, sheltered, predominantly white city/state…I am happy that Louis has a relatively diverse class, and also that we have friends of different races, religions, political leanings, and gender identities.  We’ve always found it important to tell Louis about the world around him….the good, bad and ugly.  Because he already has a solid level of compassion built into him, and to explain how unjust the world can be and how we can create change on an individual level will only help turn him into a better adult.  I have big hopes for his generation.

Signing. Up for the app “Libby“.  Did you know that your public library most likely has a digital service that you can use?  All we needed to do was to register with our library card and we now have access to a ton of digital books, to be able to read right from our phone.  For free!  The one I wanted is checked out by someone else at the moment, but it prompted me to start reading “Big Little Lies”.  I’m liking it so far, and hoping that I can find a way to watch the series when I’m finished!

Thanking. My husband for keeping me alive this week.  I seriously rode a rollercoaster of sickness that started Sunday, kinda went away on Tuesday, and then knocked me out again on Wednesday night.  I finally felt like a human being again yesterday and was able to get out of the house and do things that functioning people do.  Wowza.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

Good morning! Glad you are starting to feel better. I have not tried Libby but I use Overdrive. I love it!! I started listening to audiobooks when I still had a 45 minute drive to work. Now I listen to them while I sew or clean the house. I am currently listening to The Gown by Jennifer Robson. It is a historical novel about the making of Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding gown.
