Hello. And welcome to the blog post where Katy is obsessed with the polka dot dress that she made and therefore took way too many photos of herself in it.
It’s the 15th of the month, which means that it’s time to share what we sent to our subscribers for Fabric for Pirates! I have been waiting with much anticipation this month to see what everyone has made, because I’m just so smitten with the fabric that we delivered. Seriously. It’s so good.
This month, we went with a DTY. Because it’s seriously so perfect for this time of year, and Judy and I are both obsessed with this base during the hot summer months. DTY is the answer to all of your summer dress prayers, I promise. I mean, it works for so many different applications, but I HAD to have a dress from mine. It was completely necessary.

I chose to make myself a Rainbow Dress because I can never get enough of a full circle skirt. I’d wear a circle skirt all day, every day if I could. They’re comfy, they’re cute, they move incredibly well….it’s all the things I could want in an outfit. The Rainbow Dress has a perfect length skirt too, where it’s not too conservative, but I can also wear it to work without feeling like maybe it should have been cut a little longer. I’m all about something I can wear in and out of office.
We should probably talk about the sleeves a little, shouldn’t we? I did it again, in that I stole the sleeves off of the Flutter Wrap pattern and added it to something else. I am not totally sure of the exact count, but I know I’ve added it to the Favorite Tee (as seen here) at least a thousand times.
There’s something about the length and the movement and the fact that this fabric has incredible drape and shimmy capabilities……it all came together in this perfect moment and I knew my dress needed these sleeves. No regrets. Not a single one.
I’m in love. That’s all there is to it.
What would you have made with this fabric?
