Happy Fabric for Pirates Reveal Day with Patterns for Pirates!!!! It’s always like Christmas for me, because I’m terrible at keeping secrets, especially about something I’ve sewn!
I’m out of my comfort zone a bit with what I decided to make, but in the end I really am happy I went this route. I typically don’t like any type of bottoms on myself that aren’t skinnies. YES. I know. Gen Z has tried to outlaw skinny jeans but I honestly do not care for a single second about that because I love skinnies. They’re just going to have to deal with me being uncool and not with current styles. I can live firmly in my decisions, haha.
Anywho.
I decided to make the crop length of the Paperbag Pants + Skirt from P4P. I’ve made them in a shorts length already, but this was my first foray into the longer length pant. This pattern is a modern take on the classic paperbag waist, offering a stylish and flattering silhouette that’s as comfortable as it is chic. And yes, before you say anything, I’m well aware that I used a knit fabric for a woven pattern. But in my defense….I do what I want. (That works, right?)
The fabric base that we sent was a decent weight for this pattern so I went for it. Plus, all of our amazing promo team members were sewing a bunch of dresses (because seriously this fabric screams “make me into a dress”) but I wanted to showcase something different. So I went out on a limb and I’m loving the results!
Fabric Details:
- Crinkle Jersey
- Width: 58/60″ GSM: 170.00
- Material: 95% Polyester, 5% Spandex
Crinkle jersey is a new base for me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, besides a fun texture. And to be honest, we were a little nervous getting this without having any prior experience with it. But it worked out so well! I really love it!
Imagine a fabric that combines the softness of clouds with a texture that’s both visually pleasing and delightful to touch. That’s the lavender crinkle jersey fabric for you. It has a nice weight and excellent drape, making it perfect for dresses and, in my case, pants. The crinkle texture adds a unique dimension to the fabric, ensuring that any garment made from it is anything but ordinary. I’d say that my new Paperbag Pants are anything but ordinary, wouldn’t you?

I also decided that I ::needed:: a new Star Wars top. So I whipped up a Basic Tee - Hourglass and then sublimated a design onto it. If you were ever looking for a great base to sublimate a design onto…I highly recommend using a “yummy brushed rib”. This fabric is typically 96-100% polyester, super soft, super stretch, great drape, and can be used for a ton of things. Plus it subs great.
What do you think? Are you a fan of my new lavender bottoms? Or would you have gone a completely different route?
