Happy May the 4th, 2024 | My Ashoka-inspired Outfit

May 4, 2024

Is Star Wars Day the best holiday in the universe? If you ask my family….Yes. 100%. Best day ever.

While we are out here loving on the Star Wars universe all day every day, it’s super fun to have one specific date dedicated to it…where everyone else willingly nerds along with us. It’s so fun to go out and see all the Star Wars shirts, and see all of the posts social media. I love it. LOVE IT.

I also get mildly stressed out trying to come up with a fun outfit to make for the special day. I didn’t want to go fabric shopping, I wanted to use what I had in my stash. So it took a second to decide. But ultimately I’m SO HAPPY with the results. Because Ahsoka!!

Not to be “that guy” but we’ve been superfans of Ahsoka for a long time now, way before her show came out. We are true believers that you should absorb any and all Star Wars content, and that includes books, comics, movies (ALL OF THE MOVIES, y’all) and animated series. The Clone Wars is by far my favorite Star Wars content. It’s got all the best characters and story lines and really deep dives into things for you. I wholeheartedly think you should take the time and watch it.

I also think you should watch Star Wars Rebels. But let’s just keep the focus on Ahsoka’s origins right now, haha.

Ahsoka is written as such a perfect, strong female character. She questions authority, cares deeply, is super badass, shows weakness, and perseveres. She’s also Anakin’s Padawan, so it really creates such a beautiful storyline within the Skywalker Saga.

Anyway. You’re not here to hear me talk about Star Wars specifically. I should be talking about my outfit.

I’ve never been an overalls kinda gal. I always want to be. But storebought ones basically split me in half (I’m just too long in the torso + rise and it doesn’t feel good). And honestly, I’m always afraid that my figure won’t bode well for a top-to-bottom clothing item. I thought that I could maybe pull it off if the overalls were more slim fitting and in a knit, so it could hug my curves a little more.

While I do COMPLETELY adore this outfit that I made for myself, I’m not sure I’ll be rushing to make more overalls. I think it’s the bib part on me? Like, I don’t like how I lose shape from the side because of how the bib hangs from my bust to my waist. This is another case of me overanalyzing things on myself, but adoring them on everyone else. Such is life, isn’t it?

I squeaked these Zoey Overalls out of the orange french terry that I had in my stash. I can only assume I bought this orange for something Star Wars related years ago and let it sit. Because you don’t exactly find me wearing a lot of orange tones, haha. I had JUST enough to make these overalls happen, but I had to cut the pant length at my knee, instead of the calf-length joggers I’d originally hoped to make happen. I sacrificed length for pockets. Worth it.

My inspiration for the outfit was to pay homage to Ahsoka, rather than straight up cosplay. Which is why I picked orange for the main fabric, and then added the denim + white striped tee, to hint at the pattern on her lekku. I think these colors all worked perfectly.

And then of course adding the Fulcrum symbol on the front pocket really completed the Ahsoka look. I think my girl Ahsoka would be pleased with my outfit. It’d actually be the cutest Disneybounding look, in case anyone is going to Disney anytime soon.

What do you think? Did I nail it with my Star Wars Day outfit this year?
