Guess what, ya bunch of cuties?!? It’s Fabric Reveal Day for Fabric for Pirates with Patterns for Pirates and I’m SO EXCITED to share what I made with this month’s fabric!

This month, we went with a new supplier and whewwwwwwww were there some issues getting things in on time. Not only did they have wild weather in LA (where they’re located) they also had some personal things going on and our shipments was held up for what felt like forever. We ordered early and everything, and then as time went on, I was SWEATING about getting things here in time to cut + ship to our subscribers.
Luckily, it arrived with just enough time for me to squeak it all out. And in the end, I really do love this fabric, so I’m glad we went with it.
What did we send, exactly? A striped modal! I’m ::in love:: with the denim color against the white stripes too. Isn’t it so pretty?

I really wanted to play with the horizontal stripes of the fabric, and decided that the I was going to use the XFactor Dress from Patterns for Pirates and cut the front bodice pieces on a 45 degree angle so I could get some cool v-action.
Y’ALL. Yallllll. When I say that my brain broke trying to figure out how to make the stripes go the direction I needed them to AND to have them align at the middle, I am not lying. I seriously took the most embarrassing amount of time possible with my pattern pieces, flipping and moving them about twenty times before I actually figured it out.
AND THEN, I used a glue stick and glued the front bodice together before taking it to the sewing machine so I could keep the stripes aligned.

Guess what though? It totally paid off. I’m absolutely smitten with my new dress.
I did steal the skirt from the Rainbow Dress and then shortened it slightly because I really wanted to pair a circle skirt with this. I thought adding a darker blue for the bottom was my best option…since when I held up the stripes under my completed bodice piece, the stripes going so many directions was so busy and was making me dizzy. Ha. I thought maybe it was best to bring it back down to Earth with a solid.
I’m glad I did. It’s so perfect.

^^Ignore the crease marks from my jeans on my calves, haha. Clearly I didn’t see that when I was editing these photos. Guess who was wearing pants right before she took these photos?
