10 Reasons to Join.

May 29, 2015

Angelica, Meghan and I are challenging ourselves to blog every day in May.  Want to join us?  Linkup below!  Today’s prompt: List of 10 things.

Last night, the Wheeling Young Preservationists (WYP) held a pre-chili cookoff, cookoff.  Confused?  Well, you shouldn’t be!  WYP will be entering into The Wheeling Chili Cookoff on June 6 and wanted to have a friendly competition, in order to choose the recipe that they will be using for the formal event next weekend.  Plus, the last Thursday of the month is usually a WYP Happy Hour and this was a fun way to mix it up, while still getting everyone together.

So in honor of spending some quality time with some amazing people last night, here is my list of…

Ten Reasons to Join the Wheeling Young Preservationists.

1.) You get to be a part of a community…and THE community.

2.) You are surrounded by like-minded people.  Pretty much at all times.

3.) You have an instant network of friends.  And people who will help you get things done.  And vise versa.

4.) It’s family friendly.  Plus, you can teach your children from a very young age what it means to be proactive in your immediate surroundings.

5.) They do fun social events.  Like a chili cookoff!  And some of the group even has a Sunday-night kickball league that is open for anyone to join in on.

6.) You become excited by your own city.  And it’s history.  And it’s potential.

7.) Ever want to see change happen?  Well.  Now you get to see change and BE change.

8.) It’s fun.  It gets you out of the house.  It mixes things up.  And gets you to start thinking on a larger scale.

9.) Creativity is encouraged.  And this group sparks a different level of creativity within you.  On as large or as small of a scale as you’d like.

10.) You’ll feel more at home than you ever have, within a place that you’ve been calling home for a while.  Maybe your entire life.

Don’t live in Wheeling or it’s surrounding areas?  See if there is a group similar to WYP within your own city limits!  Preservation not your thing?  Then find something else that is purely volunteerism but that represents something you’re passionate about.  It’ll make you come alive.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
