Wheeling Arts Fest.

Jun 22, 2015

Saturday had just enough of a break in the [insane amount of] rain for us to make our way to the Wheeling Arts Fest.  It’s a pretty fun festival to go to and I love the location.  It’s a change of pace from being on the waterfront, like the majority of the festivals here in Wheeling, and this one is right smack dab in the middle of town.  I don’t know why I like it more, I just do.

The Arts Fest also fell on West Virginia Day (Happy 152nd Birthday, you old gal!) and we made sure to be dressed in our finest Handmade Escapade gear.  It was also fun to be out and about and run into a couple of people who were wearing my shirts.  Gave me all sorts of extra warm fuzzies.

The entertainment on 16th Street was pretty rad.  At the same time, we got to listen to Elec Simon and watch girls from Iron City Aerial do crazy, beautiful stunts.  It was all sorts of awesome.

Because of the rain, we really didn’t take too many pictures.  But the kid’s area was great and Louis loved being able to get his face painted up like Captain America, and to play with the musical instruments that they had in one of the tents.  Plus, they had two walls set up for people to draw and color all over…Louis and Liliana went to town, coloring their little hearts out.  It was sweet.

Wheeling also got to unveil their newest mashup of art and history, right outside of Independence Hall.  Francis H. Pierpont, the “Father of West Virginia” is now proudly displayed in bronze outside of one of West Virginia and Wheeling’s most historic buildings.  Captain Ameri-Lou stood, in a salute, to take a picture next to the towering statue.

As usual, Wheeling’s Summer Festival schedule has not disappointed!  Rain or shine, we still have a great time within our city.  Thanks so much to all of the amazing people who put this together for us!
