Pirate Pencil Skirt by Patterns for Pirates

May 25, 2016

A year and a half ago, I sewed up my first P4P pattern ever.  I was overly ambitious and took on a Lumberjack Jacket for Louis…even though I was still pretty new to sewing clothes.  Two weeks later, I sewed up my first shirt: the women’s raglan (now called the relaxed raglan).  Hooked, I was absolutely hooked.  That December, I got to test for the first time ever with Judy…she hasn’t been able to shake me since. Ha.

I’ve been admin-ing on the Patterns for Pirates facebook group since last fall and then was “hired” by Judy last November.  Seriously.  I’ve been around for a while, sewn all the fabric, bought all the patterns and watched the P4P brand grow and grow.  And here we are: May 2016..and Judy’s page has reached 20K fans.

It’s unreal!  I’m so happy for her!

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Judy decided to go and be awesome all over again and release a new pattern.  FOR FREE!!  In secret, we’ve been testing and working on the perfect pencil skirt and it’s available now.  (Join the Patterns for Pirates facebook group to find the code.)

Ready to hear about the last skirt you’ll ever want to sew for yourself?  Allow me to embarass myself with a Sir Mix-a-Lot dance.

36, 24, 36?  Haha.  Only if she’s 5’3″.  :: insert whip noise here ::

As always, the pattern has a giant size range.  Like, XXS – Plus 3X.  And every single woman during testing looked FABULOUS in this skirt.  It has three lengths (above knee, below knee, and midi) and then two rises (high and mid).  The skirts fit like butta and highlight all of your fabulous womanly curves.

Pssssst!!  Eyeballing my sewing machine necklace?  I MAKE and SELL it!
Go check it out in my online store: HERE

After becoming a parent, I’ve realized that i know how to do a few things really well:
— balance just about anything in my hands and still make it without dropping things everywhere.
— run on very little sleep and very much caffeine.
— throw a mean thumbs up.

This pattern got my major thumbs up approval.  I’ve made four skirts so far (two of which I managed to photograph) and I plan to add a million more to my wardrobe.  It can be perfectly dressed up or down.  Which makes this a staple item.

The other Pirate Pencil Skirt I photographed and made is also featuring a top that I will be sharing tomorrow in a post.  So for now you just get this one image of me in a crop top and pencil skirt.  Momma’s pretending she’s still got it.

The details about my outfits:
Purple top: P4P Sweet Tee. French Terry fabric from JoAnn Fabrics.
Multi-color Pencil Skirt: P4P Pirate Pencil Skirt, Nicole Miller Scuba Knit from JoAnn Fabrics.
Crop top: Made for Mermaids Mama Quinn, Crepe Geo Circles fabric from JoAnn Fabrics.
Charcoal Pencil Skirt: P4P Pirate Pencil Skirt, Charcoal Ponte from Fabric.com

The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
