Favorite Tee by Patterns for Pirates

Apr 12, 2017

Hey-o!  It’s another Patterns for Pirates release day.  And this one is going to be a new FAVORITE of yours.  Pun totally intended.  The Favorite Tee has an insane amount of options, and we shook it up this time to include a few new hem styles!

The Favorite Tee has FIVE hem options this time around.  Awesome.  Along with that, Judy drafted up two different necklines.  So you can get your pick of a scoop neck or a vneck.  A girl’s gotta have choices!

My first top I made and photographed for testing was the tunic length side split hem, in a 3/4 length sleeve and a scoop neck.  Love, love, love.  I adore the relaxed fit, but still having it more fitted in the bust area.  No frumpy tops for this girl!

Please forgive my side shots on this top.  I wanted to emphasize the split hem, so I parted it a bit for photos…but apparently made it spread out way too far. Gah.  The breaks of taking your own photos sometimes, you don’t have someone telling you your clothes need fixed.  Or your necklace…why is it so off to the side in these shots?  Haha.  Oh well, right?

I especially love where the tunic hits in the back.  I know it’s where Judy tries to get all of her tunic top hems, but for some reason I love it more in the Favorite tee.  I can’t explain my crazy.  Just go with me on it.

The Perfect Tee was drafted with a lower neckline than a lot of the other P4P patterns.  But honestly, it’s something I prefer anyway.  I love a good, wide scoop neck — to help balance out my good, wide head.  Plus, it was basically made to pair with the Cross My Heart Cami and it’s fabulous strap options…so you have two patterns that love each other if you need more pattern enabling.  Wink wink, nudge nudge.

The second version I sewed and photographed for testing was the dress length.  Oh my gosh, the curved hem on this dress has my entire heart.  If you’re wondering what you’re going to see me wearing all summer, this is it.  Not even joking for a second.

I absolutely adore the length of it.  The front is a little higher than the back and I can’t get enough of the backside coverage.  Let’s be honest, I’m not totally in love with the backs of my thighs and having them covered, while still getting to bare a little leg and be cool in the summer is a-okay with me.

Remember when I spent an entire summer wearing Free Spirit Tanks in dress length?  Um.  Not this summer.  I am giving my full attention to the Favorite Tee.  Dear FST, it’s not you.  It’s me.

I REALLY wanted to get some photos with these flowers in the background but the sun was so intense that I had to shove myself into the bush itself to get a proper photo.  Spring is finally here.  I needed to document it…mulch in my shoes and all.

The final shirt I made was a vneck, 3/4 length tee, in a tunic length but with the high-side vent hack that we shared on the P4P blog HERE.  We have a couple extra ways to alter the pattern on the blog, you should check it out.  Alex’s lace-up vneck and Nicole’s lace insert are swoonworthy.
