Linen Loungers by Patterns for Pirates

Jul 20, 2017

Oh hey!  It’s release day with Patterns for Pirates!  And we are bringing you things to cover your bum, my friends.  We have a set of pants patterns called the “Linen Loungers” and the “Little Loungers” and they are a woven pant for women, boys and girls.  Can I get a whoop whoop?

Like all of the Patterns for Pirates releases, we filled these Loungers with tons of options.  Multiple lengths, different finishes, pocket options, two different waistbands, an optional drawstring, AND we even busted out some fun and easy hacks to take the pattern a little further.  Not too shabby of a deal, eh?

The first version I made for myself was a cuffed shorts length with a yoga band in some “denim looking” shirting fabric from JoAnns.  It’s a rayon blend and is SO SOFT and has beautiful drape…but oh my does it wrinkle during this humidity that we are experiencing.  Yikes.

I actually really like the shorts length.  The cuffs are drafted so you can wear them both down and flipped and apparently during photos, I switched between the two a lot.

Personally, I gravitate toward bottoms that have a back yoke, and pockets.  I don’t know why but having an empty bum just feels weird to me.  The loungers don’t necessarily call for pockets and don’t have a yoke and I still like them a lot.  I’ve been converted.  I did add one of the cute back patch pockets that are in the pattern but I don’t necessarily think it ::needs:: it.  Well done, Judy my girl.

I am always SO EXCITED when patterns are available for Louis as well.  The Little Loungers in the bermuda length are fantastic and really a perfect option for my little man.

Lou is going to start back at school in under a month (a first grader this year?!?  How did this happen??) and he attends a private school that has uniform requirements.  Their bottoms need to be slacks in either navy or khaki and I’m super happy that these Little Loungers are a pattern I can use for his back to school sewing this year!  They’re quick and I like the slimmer fit.

I’m thinking about throwing a welt pocket or some patch pockets on the back and calling these the perfect little uniform pants for my growing boy.  Yay!

You didn’t think I’d make things for the two of us without snapping some group photos did you?  Any excuse to pose for a couple of shots with my mini is a good excuse.  We were MELTING during these photos, so excuse the faces in a couple of them, haha.  It has been in the 80% humidity range, along with high 80’s/90’s and we have been puddles of goo during it.

I did make a second pair of Linen Loungers for myself too.  I had in my head that these would be pant length but I bought this fabric and have had it stashed long before the pattern was in the works…so I could only get the capri length to happen.  Close enough, right?

I am always looking for ways to make my clothing a little less “vanilla” when I’m using a solid colored fabric, and I LOVE lace, so I was excited to add this little lace detailing to the slat pockets.

It’s like a little peek-a-boo detail!  Fun, right?
