We are halfway through the month, which means it’s time to share the March Fabric for Pirates subscription!

WHEWWWWWWW.  This month was the “little fabric subscription that could”.  We had a malfunction on the P4P website that caused some chaos, and then on top of that the fabric shipment from the warehouse was stuck in limbo for foreverrrrr because of the extreme weather happening across the country.  Bennett and I had to drive to the FedEx dispatch in Ohio to load the fabric into our car and drive it home (rather than have them deliver like usual), and then I had all of two days to cut and ship everything.  Suffice to say, I was more than happy to get that last package out the door and to our amazing subscribers.

This month’s fabric is a gorgeous Knit Jacquard Swiss Dot. (GSM: 230.00 Content: 77% POLYESTER 23% RAYON)  I am not much of a solid fabric person, unless it has a texture to it.  And this has the CUTEST texture to it!  I was seriously head over heels with the sweet little raised dots and the cool blue color.  Perfect for this end-of-winter / beginning-of-summer season.

Because of the timing and complications, we weren’t able to ship extras to our admin team like we usually do.  And that lead to me creating an epic amount of outfits out of this one fabric.  So here they are!

Outfit #1: Be Bold Bodysuit + Cozy Pants

I have never actually owned a sleep set for myself.  At least not a cute one.  I tend to just throw on a pair of leggings / shorts and an old tshirt and remind my husband of how lucky he is to have me by his side.  But I thought it’d be fun to actually put together an actual one and I’m kinda digging it.

The two patterns I used to create this look were the Be Bold Bodysuit and the Cozy Pants.  Here are the options I used for them:

Be Bold Bodysuit:

• Cropped version
• Unlined, with picot finishing
• Tanktop
• 1″ added to length, for sidewaist adjustment

Cozy Pants:

• Shorts length (with 2″ added to inseam, for preference)
• Patch Pockets
• High Rise

To be honest, this fabric would not have worked for the full length Be Bold Bodysuit, as it doesn’t have enough vertical stretch to be comfortable wearing.  However, it worked fine for the cropped length, since there wasn’t really any added stretch required.  This was my first time making the Cozy Pants, in any length.  The fit is super comfy and I can see myself making more of these in a longer length next fall.  Right now, I’d prefer to focus on warmer weather sewing and push those sunshine vibes into the universe!

Outfit #2: Sporty Piko

I think I can honestly say that this is my favorite make of all the ones I’m going to share.  And I don’t even lean towards the Sporty Piko like everyone else does, ha!  It’s just not in my nature / typical style wheel to seek out oversized clothing for my own frame.  And yet, I think the Sporty Piko is DARLING on everyone else.

Maybe it’s the fact that I mixed in a little nerdy element with my Star Wars fabric.  But I seriously think this is SO CUTE in a cropped length with this waist tie.  I mean….look at it!

I really wanted to add more contrasting details with this make, so I included a breast pocket and a contrasting tie.  It just gave a little extra pop of color, to compliment the sweet swiss dot action.

Options sewn for the Sporty Piko:

• Crop length
• 3/4 length sleeves
• Traditional Neckband

Outfit #3: XFactor Dress

Ohhhhh.  Have I told you before how much I love this dress pattern?!?!  I’m a big fan of all dresses, really.  But this one is extra cute because it almost looks like a two piece, but acts like a one piece, and also has a 1/2 circle skirt…which I love.

Obviously the “x factor” in this dress is the literal x.  It features a front cross over, which is cleverly constructed and a super fun element to be able to wear around.

Options I sewed for the XFactor Dress:

• Crew neckline
• Short sleeves.
• Skirted version.
• 1″ added to bodice piece for side waist adjustment.

I was seconds away from sewing a white lace to the middle front of the bodice but stopped myself because I thought it didn’t need it.  I feel like this is the cutest spring dress….which can easily transition into a summer dress as well.  We don’t celebrate Easter in our family, but when I think of Easter dresses, I’m pretty sure this sweet blue in swiss dot would totally fit the bill.  Don’t you?

Outfit #4: Favorite Tee

So…..the Favorite Tee is my literal favorite tee these days.  I’ve obnoxiously sewn this pattern a million times in the last few months.  #cantstopwontstop

It’s just that perfect blend of fitted-in-the-bust but relaxed-in-the-waist and it has a good length for doing this French tuck thing that I’ve been attached to lately.

I mean, have you made a Favorite Tee for yourself??  We’ve named it that for a reason.  You will fall in love, trust me.

Options sewn in this top (no adjustments made):

• 3/4 sleeve
• Scoop neckline
• Curved hem

This fabric is a little tighter of a weave, with a little less drape and stretch than I typically use for this tshirt pattern.  However, I think it still suits it nicely.  Don’t you?
