Christmas 2014.

Dec 27, 2014

…and just like that, Christmas was over.

I remember the first Christmas after Louis was born very vividly.  I wasn’t a full-blown Scrooge but I sure didn’t have the Christmas spirit that I do now.  Louis was just a couple of months old and we were trying to get the “new parent” title under our belts.  It’s overwhelming.  We didn’t even put up a Christmas tree or any decorations…because we didn’t think a 3-month old would really be too upset about it.  He wasn’t.  And things have certainly changed.

We have a tree and decorations and music playing all month long and I try and watch as many Christmas movies as possible.  Spirit officially returned.

I LOVE Christmas.  Love it.  I was the first one up in the morning and was :ahem: scolded by my sweet husband for trying to get them out of bed.  I was too excited to experience Christmas and Santa and opening gifts through Louis.  And honestly, I was super excited to see Bennett open his gifts too.  I drank a couple cups of coffee and e-stalked all of my friends on Facebook and Instagram.  When I couldn’t take it anymore, I went back upstairs and got those two handsome guys of mine out of bed.

Lou was incredibly pleased to see that Santa had visited.  And that he had eaten the cookies, drank the milk and given the carrots to his reindeer pals.  We made sure to serve the goodies to Kris Kringle on the adorable gingerbread man plate that Louis and I had painted earlier in the year.

Even though the kiddo made out with a bunch of really awesome loot, I’m going to have to say that his favorite gift was “Infinity 2.0” from Santa.  He didn’t even ask the jolly one for this gift.  But Santa knew he wanted it badly.  Louis has been obsessed with watching EvanTube videos and Evan has a channel where he plays video games with his dad and records their commentary during play.  Ever since he’s started watching these videos, he’s been excitedly talking about playing games on the tv with Daddy.  Santa couldn’t help but continue the male bonding in our household.  Louis has been asking Bennett to play this game with him non-stop for the last two days.  And Bennett is happily obliging when he has a couple of free minutes of video game playtime here and there.

We were hugged by Louis about a million times yesterday while he continued to exclaim, “This is the best Christmas ever!”  Melts my heart.

While the majority of Lou’s gifts were things of a store-bought nature, a good bit of the things found under our tree were handmade.  Shocking, I know.  Wether we made it ourselves or bought it from a friend who made it with their two hands…it’s hard to miss the fact that Bennett and I love and appreciate handcrafted items.

We had such an incredible and relaxing Christmas together.
And I’m not just saying that.  I stayed in my pajamas until 2:00 in the afternoon.  Which never happens because I never walk downstairs without being completely changed and ready for the day.  Actually, all three of us are this way.  Louis flat out refuses to leave the bedroom unless his clothes are changed (his hair being brushed is sometimes a different story).  Haha.

I hope all of our friends and family, far and wide, had an amazing holiday as well.
Merry Christmas!
