SOS Pants by Patterns for Pirates

Jun 18, 2015

:: Brace yourselves for a bunch of pictures of my rear end.  When you test a pair of pants for someone, there’s no way of getting around taking photos of my tush.  I’m sorry if your eyes are burning after viewing these.  Unless that’s what you came here for, then carry on. ::

Patterns for Pirates **just** launched these SOS (Skinny or Straight) Pants today.  And you’re going to love them.  I promise.

The fun thing about these pants is that I’ve been afraid to try and make pants for so long now.  And now that I have, I want to make all the pants!!  The details that you can include with pockets on the front and back (which are both functional) and the top stitching that you can do make them legit pants.  I want them to look storebought.  But better made and that fit me like a glove.  This pattern makes it all come to life.

These teal pants were made with a jegging fabric that I found at Joanns.  It’s got a great stretch and is super soft, but not so forgiving of my lumps and bumps on my backside.  So these pants will most likely be rocked with a tunic length shirt.

The second pair that I made was in the straight-leg option.  To be honest, I don’t actually own any straight-legged pants anymore.  So I’m glad that I can add these to my wardrobe, as one of those staple items that I should probably have.

I was trying to go for a non-smiley picture.  And instead of it working out, I just look like:
Katy McKinley :: Business Bitch.
(If you don’t know the reference and love Kelly Kapoor from The Office, we probably can’t be friends.)

I like that she’s included three different inseam options for the straight legged version.  Please excuse the fact that my pants aren’t hemmed…I was trying to get pictures before the rain hit.  Again.  Because apparently all it knows how to do anymore is rain buckets on us here.

The beauty of this pattern is that you can creates so many different looks from just owning it.  Really, you could make running pants, lounge pants, work pants, casual pants, denim jeggings….anything your little heart desires.  I love a good multi-tool.  The SOS Pants pattern can totally be counted as a multi tool.

AND, it’s in a giant range of sizes, just like all of Judy’s patterns!  XXS – Plus 3X.  That’s amazing to me that she drafts for all sizes and shapes.  Just makes me girl crush on her even more.

Patterns for Pirates just launched a bright, shiny, new website: www.patternsforpirates.com and you can find the new SOS Pants pattern right HERE.  They’re on sale this week for the release, so go get yourself some!  Run, don’t walk!

I have to laugh, though.  I’ve managed to take some super dorky and awkward photos of myself during testing and sent them to Judy.  And then somehow, all three of these ridiculous pictures showed up in the tutorial / cover photo of this pattern.  :: face palm ::  Haha.
