Megan Romper by Made for Mermaids

Jan 26, 2016

I stepped way out of my style-comfort zone with this test and I’ll admit that I am happy I did.  Cross-over style tops are usually on the “no-no list” for me, as are rompers…and yet here I am, wearing both.  And actually liking it!

Made for Mermaids is releasing their newest pattern for the ladies out there and it’s full of tricks!  Allow me to introduce you to the Megan Romper + Dress!

I will pretend to be able to list all of the options but I’ll also go ahead and let you check out the line drawing for yourself.  Because there are SO MANY.  Eep!  Three dress lengths, four pants lengths, pockets, and multiple sleeve lengths.  (And psssst!!  It’s on sale for only $7 this week, so you might want to move fast.  Seven dollars is a steal for so many options!)

Quite obviously, I made the long sleeved, romper shorts version…I chose the 4.5″ inseam because I wanted to feel a little more covered.  And I love that the long sleeves have elastic, so it pools up around your wrists and gives it a little more of a blousy look.  It’s super cute.  Like, super duper cute.

Admittedly, I still need to figure out how to wear a romper in public and use the restroom.  I mean, this is why I’ve avoided rompers mostly…how does a girl pee without undressing completely?  I’ll get back to you later on this.  Or I won’t, haha.

I could totally see wearing this out on a date night (which happen few and far between) or a girl’s night out (which happen even less than that…) But hey, Momma has a cute outfit ready to go whenever one of those occasions pops up!

I used a scuba knit for my fabric.  Actually, it’s a brand new Nicole Miller knit that just got released at JoAnn Fabrics!  I’m excited to have a selection of pretty knits available locally now.  Thank you Joanns (finally)!!  The scuba and my sewing machine fought.  Hard.  I was trying to topstitch and it wasn’t having any of it.  No matter the amount of needle changes and rethreading…it just didn’t want me to sew it.  So avoid checking out my waistband too much.  The other testers did a waaaay better job than me in this department.  I plan to take it out and do it again, I just needed a cooler head before I tried again.

If you would have asked me a week ago if I’d wear a romper, I would have given you a big “hell to the no”.  But honestly, I’m pretty smitten.  I look forward to making a dress version of this as well, because I’ve been drooling over the other testers in their versions.

No joke.  They all look amazing in their Megans!!  Go HERE to check out the tester album.  You will want to.  I promise.  And then immediately after, go get your paws on this pattern.  What are you waiting for?
