Wear to Where? Spring 2016 | Summer Wedding

May 26, 2016

It’s wedding season, you guys!  And that means you’re going to be spending some (or a good amount of) time in front of your closets, trying to figure out what to wear.  We’ve got you covered with this one!

We have TWENTY amazing bloggers from both the fashion and sewing worlds on our tour this time around. I’m insanely excited about our lineup (and you should be too!)

My look was something I debated over for a while…and didn’t actually make it until the night before a wedding that we hosted in our home.  I wanted something casual-ish, comfortable (because we were also photographing the wedding) and was dying to add lace.

At first I had considered a dress, but then decided to make a top and skirt, so I can mix/match as I please the rest of the spring and summer.

My ultimate decision was a circle skirt and a lace overlay top.  Instead of doing any prints, I decided upon a teal rayon blend for the skirt, and a basic off-white lace with a matching cami underneath.

I am fully in the party that doesn’t believe in letting your bra straps show.  I totally broke my own rules with this, and hard.  Whoops.

My top is a Patterns for Pirates Sweet Tee with zero hemming.  Like, none.  Fastest shirt in the west.  Lace is an epic pain to hem and I liked the raw edges of it all.  I used a curved hem and was nervous about it being longer than my cami underneath but ended up loving the look as a whole.

My skirt is the circle skirt from the Patterns for Pirates Sweetheart Dress.  During the sew-a-long we had with the Sweetheart Dress, we gave some waistband measurements so you could hack your pattern into a skirt as well.  (You can find those measurements HERE.)

I looooove me a good circle skirt!  They’re so twirly and feminine!

I totally meant to iron out the wrinkles in my skirt before photographing this.  But……sorry!

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
