Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff 2016

Jun 7, 2016

Saturday was the annual Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff, and the second year that the Wheeling Young Preservationists participated with their own chili to hand out to the masses.  While I’ll never understand why the chili cookoff is during the summer, it’s always super fun to attend.

Sadly, Bennett’s chili did not bring home any awards, but it was still worth the long day we spent down at the Heritage Port.  The weather was on and off raining for the first little while and then the clouds opened up and we had super bright, super warm weather.  It really was a perfect day.

The cookoff brings SO MANY people down to the waterfront, which provides ample opportunities for the WYP team to get their name out there.  Plus we all wear matching shirts and look like a well organized team.

Alex and Stephanie provided for some cute decorations.  I especially love the old window with the pictures from some of the events WYP has held recently.

All in all, Saturday was a great day.  We were WHIPPED by the time we got home.  We started our day, setting up at 8:30am and didn’t head home until around 5:00pm.  So with tons of people to run into, lots of chili to serve, and two littles to keep busy…we had a big day of moving and shaking.  Worth it!

After unloading my camera onto my computer, I realized that the majority of my photos from Saturday were of the two littles we had with us.  So apparently instead of titling this post as I did, it should read:

Zooey and Louis: A Love Story

These two are insanely cute together.  They both have pretty dominant personalities but they mesh together really well.  It takes someone with the perfect level of sass to spend an entire day with Louis without any five-year-old disagreements and these two have it down pretty well.  They seriously are the cutest friends.

Zooey and Louis kept grabbing each others hands to walk around the festival.  AH-DORABLE.  Dena had it right when she said that the pair drew more attention than a puppy.  You should have seen how many people were oohing and awwing over them as they walked through the crowds.  Ridiculously cute.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
