Mama Ava by Made for Mermaids

Sep 8, 2016

My pattern designer friends are crazy.  Crazy in a good way.  Megan was out shopping at Target, found a shirt she loved, and decided to make a pattern similar to it so she could make 230498230498 for her closet.  And THEN, she was kind enough to draft it for the rest of us too!  Allow me to introduce you to Mama Ava, the newest pattern from Made for Mermaids.

Ava is a homerun when you want a tee that covers your bum and has a relaxed fit.  Fabric, fabric, fabric is going to be your biggest factor when it comes to loving this shirt on your body.  The better the drape, the better the Ava top.  (Meaning…save your stiffer, thicker cotton lycras for something else.)

We are in the middle of testing a ton of things, as well as I’m getting ready for Project Run + Play, so I only ended up making two Avas for myself.  But it’s so insanely quick that I plan to do more.  This floral is from a Girl Charlee sale earlier this summer.  I was worried that this shirt might look a little too “old lady” for me, but I think it worked out just fine.

The vneck is perfection.  I love a good, lower neckline.  And I swear that vnecks aren’t hard to master!  You can do it, I know you can!

The second version I’d made was the curved hem, this time with long sleeves and a scoop neck.  I’m pretty sure that this exact combo is going to get me through the majority of the fall and winter this year.  The curved hem has a high/low factor to it that is excellent for booty coverage and will be fabulous with skinnies (or leggings!)

I’m pretty convinced that every time I take pictures, and am wearing lipstick, I go back inside to find that I have had lipstick all over my teeth for 75% of the photos.  Also, I get tired of staring down the camera and smiling a lot.  So sometimes these faces make their way into my albums.

I feel like i have more pictures than words this time around.  This pattern kinda speaks for itself, don’t you think?  What are you waiting for?  Go get it for yourself and then get to sewing!
