Oh hiiiiiiiii. Happy to see you back here, checking out my latest obsession!
I’ve made a few bobble-related items over the last year-or-so and I had this HUGE need to create an entire sweater of this fabulously textured stitch. So I did! And I made it as colorful as possible because the world needs more rainbows in it, doesn’t it?

I don’t even know if I have lots to say about this sweater, other than I love it. It is exactly as happy and fun as I’d hoped it would be. It actually took me a bit longer to make than some of my recent crochet projects, and I think these giant bobbles are to blame. Bobble stitches like this are basically 5 Triple Stitches in one stitch each….so they are a bit of a yarn hog, and they also take 5 times as long to make as one stitch.
But worth it.
I was undecided up to the very last minute for if I wanted buttons or ties but I went with buttons in the long run because I thought the ties would look funny just hanging when untied. I might be wrong. I’ll probably make another sweater here soon and I’ll be sure to use ties to test my theory. I do think the buttons look cute with it though. I tried super hard to find green / yellow / red buttons….but I couldn’t find yellow in my stash so I substituted with these gold ones.

In true Katy fashion, I went ahead and spelled out how I created this cutie. If you head to THIS POST, you can find my free download for this Rainbow Bobble Stitch Sweater. It’s a complete-ish pattern. I don’t teach you how to make any of the stitches, and I don’t give you full-blown instructions on how to finish the cuffs / collar / placket. But I get you far enough through it…that if you know how to crochet well enough you’ll do just fine!
And I hope you do decide to make one for yourself! I always draft these designs up for myself and then realize that it wouldn’t take much to share it as well…and then it takes me a million hours to get it into a pretty format. So please download the freebie and make it worth my time to share these things!
Doesn’t this sweater just make you so happy looking at it?
