Sunday Lately :: Week 108

Jan 22, 2017

Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, which is fearlessly led by Angelica (Gardening in High Heels) and myself. We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!

This week’s themes: Searching, Relying, Addressing, Praising, Singing.

Searching. For the appropriate words to describe my feelings about the Friday and Saturday’s events.  I don’t think I can just yet.  I will say that I am insanely proud of my Facebook feed on Saturday.  Generally, the politics get a little out of control for my taste.  And considering that I’m a pretty political person, living in a very political family, constantly debating politics…it says a lot that I tire of it.  I sometimes need a break from people bringing it to social media.  Especially the people who just blast the politics when it’s sexy to do so…and hardly pay attention otherwise.  HOWEVER, seeing photos of the women’s march yesterday was just AWESOME.  I cannot tell you how much my heart swells to see so many people that I personally know (including two of my amazing aunties!!), holding signs and marching peacefully in support of equal rights.  It was a beautiful thing.

Relying. On the flexibility of our family unit a lot over the next few weeks.  Bennett has gone back to school, as of last week, and we have a whole new world of scheduling to figure out.  We have one car and three pretty set schedules now to deal with.  So it’s going to be chaos for a little while until we get into a rhythm.  I’m not too worried.  We handle things pretty easily between the three of us.

Addressing. And entire list of to-dos, alongside our Prom Planning Committee!  I’m so excited for Adult Prom, you guys.  We had a meeting on Thursday to brainstorm and hash out some details.  And holy crap is this going to be the best night ever.  Can’t wait!

Praising. Mother Nature for giving us a weird day of 60+ degree weather.  It’s not something that should happen in January.  But I can’t say that being able to walk around outside without jackets on and breathe in some fresh air without being bundled was pretty fricken awesome.  It makes me crave spring a little.  But I’m going to hold my excitement about the potential of warmer weather, because I’m sure next week will somehow end up being the worst winter days of my life.  Because that’s just how things work.

Singing. Lots of Beatles songs!  Louis has been watching a new Netflix show called “Beat Bugs” and the every show incorporates one of the Beatles songs into it.  It’s super cute and of course I love the music.  Louis kept asking how I know all of the songs, haha.  I think it finally has sunk in enough to the point where he’s now requesting “I Am the Walrus” and “All You Need is Love” while we drive somewhere.  Pretty rad.  And congratulations to the Beat Bugs writers for helping instill the importance of the Beatles into another generation.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
