I almost missed a release day because I’ve been having blog issues (I just switched from horrible Squarespace to a self-hosted WordPress and I’ve been struggling to get the formatting correct). But I pushed myself through all of the internet mess just so I could talk about the newest pattern release from Made for Mermaids! Let’s say hello to Kourtney!
The Kortney patterns are a basic knit tee, with an awesome option to add a knot to it. I’ve been totally sucked into the “knot all the tees” trend and I love that this is a built-in option for my top. My favorite part of the knot is the construction of it. I’ve seen some patterns have extra pieces that you have to cut and sew to create the look. But with Kourtney, M4M has come up with a really creative and FAST way to achieve the knot with only the basic pattern piece. I’m considering stealing the construction for a couple of my other top patterns as well. It’s that genius!
I impulsively bought this gorgeous knit lace from JoAnn Fabrics the other day when I was shopping for something else entirely……..
But I’m super glad I did. Because it’s pretty and was a perfect fabric for my Kourtney! I sewed up the 3/4 length sleeve, curved tunic option, and I believe my knot is 3″ from the center. It’s one of my new favorite tops, especially for fall, and I’ve already worn it a few times. In fact, I wore it the second it came off of the sewing machine during testing, and I had to wash this cutie before I even had a chance to take these tester shots.
The fit is pretty relaxed, but the knot does change it up a slight bit and pulls the fabric in toward your hips more on this tunic length. I like my tops to be semi-fitted, to the point where I’m not squeezed but you can still see my figure. This is the perfect balance. It’s like the Mermaids get me or something.
If you’re not convinced that you need this pattern yet, you should probably go check out the release post on their blog. Of course everyone’s versions were gorgeous. And of course they also made a matching girls’ pattern for this.
**As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended. Thanks for helping to feed my sewing habits!
