We went, we saw, we Jerseyed and now we are home. I haven’t gone through the entire set of images that Bennett took on the beach during one of the last nights during our vacation BUT, I did selfishly pull out the images that were snapped of the three of us. Because I can.

I can happily say that I managed to sew up new duds for all three of us just for this quick photo sesh. Thanks to Bennett’s sister Elizabeth for taking over the camera so we could get a couple of shots of the three of us together. We’re kinda cute, no?

I’m mostly sharing these pictures so I can also share the fun dress that I made myself, using the most recent pattern release over at Patterns for Pirates. It’s called the “So Classic Sundress” and it’s delightfully retro. Judy named it appropriately for sure. It’s got such a classic fit and is drafted for woven fabrics.
That’s right ladies! You can officially bust out some of the quilting cottons you’ve been hoarding and make yourself a dress!

Woven fabrics and being a woman with curves isn’t always the best combo when it comes to sewing. It’s often a lot harder to fit in the bust, waist, etc. But the So Classic Sundress lets you skip all of the frustrating alterations with this gathered back bodice piece. It has several rows of elastic that create a cute shirred look in the back, while hugging all of your curves properly in front. I’m smitten. It almost feels like we cheated the system.
Also this is the first time I had sewing photos taken of me in front of my in-laws and it wasn’t as horrible as I thought it would be, haha. I expected a lot of heckling and teasing and it wasn’t at all like that. It gives me hope to possibly venture away the comfort of my own home/yard for other photos around town. Maybe. We will see.
