Fabric for Pirates :: July 2021 Reveal

Jul 15, 2021

We’ve hit the halfway mark in the month, which means it’s time to share the fabric that we sent out for July’s Fabric for Pirates shipment!  The summer seems to be moving faster than ever, I can’t believe we are here already!

Judy and I were on the hunt for the perfect hot weather fabric, and we found it in this gorgeous tie dye DTY that we sent out to everyone.  Seriously — we usually take forever to pick a fabric (the two of us have very opposite tastes in things, haha) but as soon as we found this stunner, we were sold.  Fastest fabric shopping agreement ever.  I mean….can you blame us?  It’s freaking fabulous!

I made myself a top using the Sweater Weather pattern from Patterns for Pirates.  Now, I know what you’re thinking: Katy, that doesn’t look like a sweater at all.  And you would be correct in that thought.  I just had this vision for a side split, looser fitting top and the Sweater Weather pattern really fit the bill.  All I did was omit the sleeves and hem them as short sleeves (it’s a dolman style top) and boom: exactly what I had hoped it would be.

This is the top length, with a scoop neckline and zero adjustments otherwise.  Isn’t it cute?

Here are the official details of the fabric itself:

Tie Dye DTY
Width: 58/60″
GSM: 180.00
Material: 96% POLYESTER 4% SPANDEX

DTY = Drawn Textured Yarn  The yarns are heat-treated and twisted to create a soft and chic fabric that has a great stretch to it. This fabric type often comes in a large variety of colors and patterns. It’s moveable, breathable, wears well, and lasts a long time. Plus it’s perfect for the hot months ahead of us!

And in case you didn’t know enough about the Fabric for Pirates subscription yet — here are the down and dirty details:

The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

Hi Katy, It pains me to write this because I am a big fan of yours. Please take me off your list of P4P free subscriptioners’. I’m an old lady w no grands so I don’t use the tiny prints, live in the hot, San Joaquin Valley so make few cartigans. I’m just too picky for your club I think.Anyway I enjoyed trying it out. I can mail you the earrings if you’d like them back. Thanks, Katy.
