Sunday Lately :: Week 7

Feb 15, 2015

Sorry I’m late with this one, unexpected sickness from our little one threw a wrench into my timely plans. But I’m here now, so let’s do it.  Sunday Lately is live!

This week’s themes: Doing, Appreciating, Designing, Humming, Expecting.

Doing: A lot of extra-sympathetic parenting this morning.  And last night.  Louis was fine all day yesterday and then right before bed he said his tummy was hurting.  Minutes later, he was throwing up.  And then again.  And then again and again and again.  Team McKinley was up tending to our sweet little one multiple times during the night.  I’m pretty sure I slept on top of a wet spot on our bed.  Gross, I know.  But that’s parenting for you.  Sometimes you catch vomit in your hands, sometimes you sleep on it.  Real talk, people.

Appreciating: The free and fun activities that Wheeling has to offer us.  Last night (of course, before all of the puking and sickness even showed a hint of being around) we went to a free play at the Wheeling Jesuit University’s drama department.  They did a depiction of Aladdin and it was really interactive and very cute.  Louis loved it.  He was raising his hand to give suggestions when they asked for it and was hiding behind things alongside Aladdin at times.  I’d say kiddo really enjoyed it.  As did we.

Designing: My website.  And having mild breakdowns every time I run into something or some sort of coding that I don’t think fits into my vision.  I wish I had the money to hire a web designer to create my entire shop for me.  Not gonna happen.  This is a Katy-only job and it’s taking me forever.  I need to just set aside one day in which all I do is work on it until I can do a soft opening.  I’m excited about how it’s looking so far…I just need to get it finished.  ::sigh::

Humming: “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston.  I forgot how much I loved this song until it came up on my Amazon radio.  I immediately added it to my playlist and I’ve only listened to it now about ten million times.  It’s good stuff.

Expecting: A few tears from Louis (and perhaps me as well) when we leave next weekend.  Bennett and I have been hired to photograph one of my good friend’s weddings in Minneapolis next Saturday and we just can’t take Louis with us.  It wouldn’t make sense.  So he’s staying with Grandma all weekend and this will be the longest he’s been away from both his parents at once.  Granted, he’ll still be in our house with his Grandma that he loves…but nighttimes I think will be a big deal for him.  It’s only two nights and one full day of absence.  But I’m still a little nervous about the whole thing.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

    That new site preview is so cute! I can't wait to see it all together. And poor Louis! I hope he's feeling better soon and this was just a little bug that's gone.

    My mom always says that if you're upset, your kids can tell. Not to be an armchair advice giver here (and I'm sure it'll change when I actually have a kid) but if you're happy that Louis is having a big adventure with Grandma at home, he will be too. I hope it goes smoothly for everyone. Congrats on being hired out for a wedding 🙂
