Honestly, I think I deserve an award for making this post happen today. Okay, or not. But Bennett is currently driving my Momma cross-country, to help her move to PA and I am with Louis at home…pretending to be capable of parenting solo. You never realize how much you rely on another person until they’re not around.
So let’s get to it! This week’s themes: Planning, Loving, Reading, Wishing, Feeling.
Planning. Some Katy-sewn items to be added to the shop. I’ve got a few rad trucker caps with adorable fabrics and some tees for kiddos. And if I ever get off my rump, I’ve got some really fun ideas for women’s tunics. I’m probably kidding myself with trying to get them done this weekend/week while Louis and I are flying solo. Bennett is a stay-at-home dad to our kiddo and I work from home. So we have flexible schedules for last minute trips like the one he’s on…but that means that work for me will be tougher to get accomplished unless I want to completely ignore the kiddo. Which I do not.
Loving. The weather lately. Seriously. AMAZINGGGGG. It’s been sunny and warm and delightful. Lou has put in some serious time in the sandbox and I’m even considering breaking out his water toys today. I just need to wear something that can be completely soaked by sneak attacks with squirt guns. Which will happen.
Reading. Um. Nothing. I’m the worst.
Wishing. I knew more about taxes and didn’t have to feel so dumb when I give my paperwork to my accountant and can’t answer half the questions she has about it. Ugh. I barely made it through accounting in college. The one class I took. If only it were easier to run a small business. Maybe we can write the Federal Government and get them to let indie owners like me get away without having to deal with it. Because really. It’s so harrrrrrrrd. Waaaaah.
Feeling. Really freaking excited. Because my Momma is going to be here in no time at all. For good. Like…we can just hop in a car and get to her within two hours. That’s amazing to me. I’m really looking forward to having her be a part of more events in our lives. Birthdays, holidays, school events, random sewing ideas of mine, etc. THE WORKS. I know it’s a big move for her and it can’t be easy to uproot like she’s doing and start all over again. But I can’t even explain how important it is to me to have her closer.
Yay for great husbands, cute kids, and close-by mommas! I seriously lost time surfing around your new site (so great!) and Etsy page. My best friend is graduating (her masters! smart kid) from WVU and moving to MD and I want to get her all the cute state things in your shop to remind her of where she's been and where she's going. I can't wait to see your new items!
And taxes. Ick. I'll gladly pay extra to have someone else deal with it for me.
Aw! I'm glad there was some time spent on my new site. I really need to get my butt in gear and put everything else up there. It's just so much work! I wish I had the funds to have someone else do the computer stuff.
That's so exciting about your mama! Congrats and hang in there. I was solo parenting last week/weekend too and felt like a zombie by the time Rob got back Sunday. It turns you into a warrior damn fast! xo
