Scribefire.

May 12, 2015

AngelicaMeghan and I are all challenging ourselves to blog every day during the month of May.  We are hoping you can join in too!  Today’s prompt: Favorite blogging tools.

A little over a year ago, I wrote and shared about my favorite blogging tool.  Which was in the form of Windows Live Writer.  Since then, our household has changed from Windows computers to everything Apple in our entire house.  We have Apples phones, iPads, a router and now both computers we use are Macs.  There was a large learning curve (I still have to google certain shortcuts from time to time) but I really do love my Macs.  I fought it for so long…but I drank the koolaid and here I am in the Apple world.

The main issue with changing over to Apple is that Windows Live Writer is not compatible with it.  Not in the least bit.  It was DEVASTATING news to me because WLR was like writing in Word and then hitting publish.  I went on an epic quest to find a new WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) blogging tool and after spending money on things that I ended up deleting because they stunk royally…I found what I was looking for.

Now, let me tell you, I still miss WLR.  It was the best.  But Scribefire is picking up some slack, that’s for sure.  And!  It’s free!

I like blogging with Blogger.  I know many people have made the switch to WordPress over the years, but I’m in no rush.  I like having a Google product with all of the rest of my Google things (email, cloud backup, etc).  But I hate, hate, hate writing out a blog post in the Blogger interface.  It’s awful.  Especially for photos.  I don’t like the formatting at all.  I almost always have used a third-party editor.  I like having more control over how it ends up looking when I hit publish.

Scribefire allows me to save templates, have multiple blogs loaded onto it, pull from and edit old posts and add categories (labels) in all of my posts.  And it’s just an extension in my web browser, so it’s not another program to have loaded on my computer.  I can also write and edit posts while offline, so that’s a huge bonus to me.

What do you use to write your posts?  What your service gives you or have you searched for a third-party alternate like me?  I’d love to know if there’s something out there that I’m missing!

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

I never even knew something like this existed! I've heard of people writing in all kinds of programs – Evernote to a specific blogging Google calendar – but not an interface that is basically like publishing from that program. I'm a WP girl through and through, and I like their posting system, but I'll check this out anyway.

    Also, Team Apple FTW!

I've never used WordPress, I haven't had to take that step yet and I really don't see myself as enough of a "blogger, blogger" to delve even further into it. Honestly, I'd probably use their writing interface. Anything has to be better than Blogger! And Scribefire is the perfect price so it works perfect for me. 🙂

Oh my gosh, I adore your avatar.
I loved writing with Windows Live Writer so much that I even looked into loading a Windows interface on my computer just to use that one, free service. I was that addicted to it. #bloggerworldproblems
