Wahoo! Today is the day! My Top Stitchers post is live and ready to rock over at Sewing Stadium. This is the first sewing competition I’ve been in and I’m excited to see it through. Pee my pants nervous, but also excited.
RaeAnna and I are going head-to-head today with sewing for Boys, in the 4-7 age range. We were charged with the task of deciding upon a famous duo and make outfits for our kiddos that represented those characters. When we decided upon Star Wars, I was so freaking excited. We are HUUUUUUGE Star Wars fans in our household. Huge.
RaeAnna took R2D2 and I took C-3PO and we went on our merry, creating ways. I super love the 3PO piece that I created. Louis helped me pick out the fabrics and, although I had a less shiny idea in my head, I love that Lou wanted to go classic and have a metallic look. He’s very much like me. He likes LOUD fabrics and making a statement.
I ran into one little problem though. Louis fell ill ALLLLLL of last week. Starting Tuesday, he developed a fever and never seemed to fully recover from it. I had the perfect location scoped out for our shoot and we kept having to push the date back to take pictures, because he was running a high fever or being weak and just generally sick.
On Sunday, we thought we were good. We thought Louis was over it…and so we went to the only beach near us, which was a 25 minute (gorgeous) drive. And once we got there, kiddo had an emotional BREAKDOWN and threw up all over the beach. I felt god awful. We tried to get photos (prior to the throwing up) and they just did not work out at all. I was devastated. Not only did I feel like the world’s worst Momma, but I was also crazy worried about not being able to finish and submit my side of the competition because I didn’t have any styled photos.
I mean. Look at this poor boy.
We ended up heading to Urgent Care on Sunday afternoon because we’ve honestly never seen Louis be ill for this extended of a period. So glad we did. Because he ended up being diagnosed with an upper respiratory AND sinus infection. I feel like a shitty Mom. I wish we’d taken him in sooner but he really kept bouncing back to health….but then not. ::sigh::
Anywho. Since we weren’t going to push Louis any further for photos, I called up one of my friends who has a gorgeous kiddo around Lou’s age. Donovan was a perfect stand-in for pictures and I can’t even begin to thank Nikki and Eric enough for letting me use this precious boy for photos.
So our location switched from Tatooine to Endor. Still applicable.
Donovan was an excellent model. I’m so glad he was ready to rock it as soon as he came over.
So friends, I’m asking you to PLEASE go and check out the full post [HERE] at Sewing Stadium. And please cast your votes for both RaeAnna and myself…we both worked really hard on our “Thick as Thieves” wardrobes for our kiddos!
