Although the weather outside isn’t exactly frightful, (hello 70-something degrees in December!) the Christmas spirit inside our house is pretty darn delightful! It’s Christmas Eve, of course! How could you be anything but happy?
My Mom gets to spend her first Christmas with us this year, which is pretty amazing. We took her up to see the Festival of Lights after we had some yummy dinner, and donned our Christmas jammies. Of course. Jammies are important. Louis was super excited for everyone to get dressed, and once we had them on he asked, “Aren’t they so cozy?!”
The excitement and magic of Christmas is not lost on that kiddo. Not one bit.
Christmas Eve is almost as big as Christmas Day. We had to make some Reindeer Food to leave outside, to help guide Santa and his sleigh to our house easier. Sprinkles, oats, glitter and some other random food stuff make the perfect combination for this.
And of course, Santa needs cookies. So we bake our same chocolate chip cookie recipe that we do every year (try not to eat too much of the dough!) and leave some out for the Fat Man when he comes to visit. Nana helped Louis make them this year…so they’ll probably be extra tasty.
Now it’s off to bed for me, so we can get up early and see what Santa left in our stockings and under the tree this year. I’ll bet it’s some good stuff. I have it on good authority that he’s gotten everyone exactly what they want this year. And then some.
Merry Christmas from the McKinleys!!
