Mama Quinn by Made for Mermaids

May 26, 2016

I told you that this was a busy week!  I’ve been a part of three big releases, the Wear to Where? blog tour, Louis’ last day of preschool, and a 20K P4P celebration.  I’m whipped and my phone has been getting so many alerts that it won’t stay charged.  But having a great time because it’s really making my sewing mojo burst out of control!

Allow me to introduce you to Mama Quinn, Made for Mermaids’ newest women’s pattern.  The best part?  It’s made for wovens!!  Yayyyyy!

Mama Quinn is a slip style top or dress with no darts or closures, making it very quick to sew up! Includes 4 lengths- cropped, top, dress (above knee) and maxi. Choose double v back, center straps, criss cross straps or straps that tie at the shoulder.  It takes very very little fabric and time to sew up…the hardest part will be the choosing the fabric!

I went two very different directions with the Quinns that I made.  Both were out of my style comfort zone.  The first was a maxi dress.  Let me tell you, I NEVER wear maxis.  I feel like they drown me and I loose all of my shape.  Bennett is always begging me to wear maxis, but I think it’s because he thinks that if I start to wear them, it’ll begin my transition to full blown hippie.  (You think I’m joking!)

One of the options with Mama Quinn is to use the front piece twice, to get a double v.  I love this option the most.  I even kept my regular bra on with it.  Sure you can see the straps a little bit, but for the most part they are concealed and I’m comfortable.

I’m not saying Bennett has won here.  Not in the slightest.  But I’m not mad at this dress and I plan to wear it a lot this summer.  In fact, is this print not PERFECT for our Good Zoo Brew events?  Hello!!

The second version I made, also out of my comfort zone, is the crop.  Ooooo girls!  You will hesitate to make this, but when you put it on you’ll be strutting your stuff.  A high waisted skirt/pants and this top are the CUTEST thing for a girl’s night out.  For reals.

This version, I opted to do the standard back with cross, tie shoulders.  I’m not going to lie when I tell you that I had to have Bennett tie my straps for me.  I seriously couldn’t dress myself this day.  But he got me into place and it all worked out in the end. Ha!

Like I said, the crop Mama Quinn pairs super well with a high waisted bottom.  I wore the new P4P Pirate Pencil Skirt and did my best modeling.  They work so well together!

Have you been convinced yet that you NEED the Quinn?  Um.  Because you do.
