It’s about time that I got some new models for this blog, am I right? Made for Mermaids is celebrating FIFTEEN THOUSAND FANS on their Facebook group with new patterns! Congratulations Megan! You are amazing!
The best part about these patterns? THEY ARE FREE! (Cool it on the all-caps typing today, Katy.) But seriously though. Free. The Mama Chloe and Chloe skirts are insanely fast, well fitting, can be made in multiple lengths, and super easy to make. And they’re free! Head over to the M4M Facebook group to find the code. Hint: it’s in the comments section of the pinned post.
So let’s talk the pattern. The Chloe is an a-line skirt, that comes in two lengths (maxi and knee) and has only four seams to make it happen. Four. Seriously fast. Your closet will be full of these skirts, for sure.
I asked Louis’ best gal pal to be a model for me. Isn’t Zooey the cutest? I have to admit that sewing for little girls was a little harder, but only in the sizing sense. I’m used to figuring out fitting for Lou. For Zooey…her waist is teeny but she’s super tall. So I made her a size 3 width, size 5 length and then dropped the size of the waistband down to slightly smaller than her actual waist measurements. Perfect fit. And cutest maxi skirt I’ve literally ever seen in my life.
After I made Zooey’s skirt, I couldn’t help but want to make one for her gorgeous Momma, Dena. How could I resist the idea of Momma and Me photos?
The Mama Chloe is the exact same style and option as the Chloe, just in women’s sizes. They fit like a glove and can be styled so many ways! I’m also super glad that I had enough of this fabric left over from my sewing last summer. Doesn’t it remind you of fireworks?
Thanks so much to Dena and Zooey for lending your beautiful faces to my blog. Obviously now I feel the need to create a cute set for Louis and Zooey together, so we can get the world’s most adorable photos of those two hams. Wouldn’t your heart just explode from the cuteness?
I was actually surprised that Miss Sassypants didn’t give me these faces the whole time we were photographing her. Zooey is quite the little character.
Of course a pattern release post on my blog wouldn’t be complete without pictures of me too. So here they are! I made and wore this ensemble for the Good Zoo Brew that we went to a couple of weeks ago. I thought the leopard was more than fitting for a zoo event.
I’m admittedly not much of a maxi skirt fan. Or anything maxi length. But for some reason, I really like this skirt and I’ve worn it a few times now. Because the leopard is a scuba, it’s a BEAST in the hot weather. But we’ve had a couple of cooler days and it’s worked really well for me to wear.
