Brace yourselves. I’m officially sharing something from a different designer today: Love Notions. In all honesty though, I’ve sewn her things before! Remember the crocheted yoke sweater I made? I also super love the LN Sybil Skirt with a drop yoke…and I’ve made my Momma the Laundry Day Tee. Tami is awesome and her designs are simple, classic, on trend, and easy to sew. My kinda patterns, you know?
Love Notions just released their latest pattern: The Luna Loungewear! It has five different pieces all packed into one pattern: cami, knee-length nightie, bralette, capris and shorts. I made and tested the nightie version. So cute!
There isn’t a lot of printing involved in the nightie version, since the front and back piece are the same. And it has a very forgiving a-line fit, while the bust is a bit more fitted. (Because boobs! Am I right?) There is an option for adding a shelf bra into the cami and nightie versions…but I chose to leave it out of mine, and just wore a regular bra with it.
And yes, I wore a bra for photos. You’re welcome.
But for sleeping, I don’t need the shelf bra. You’re welcome again for the visual. Bahaha.
Admittedly, I’ve never sewn anything with these type of straps before. I was a little nervous that it’d be difficult to think through, or that I’d have to do it a couple of times. Not the case at all! It was super do-able, the tutorial was easy to follow, and it came together without much effort, really.
My fabric choice was just a basic, no frills, cotton lycra. Hardly any stretch. Zero drape. I still like the results a lot, and can picture this as a way sexier nightie to wear in a more drapey fabric like a rayon blend. Or even a nice ITY. Or lace…if I pretended to wear stuff like that.
In my epic laziness, I decided to just leave the bottom unhemmed…and trimmed up the 1″ hem allowance. The pattern does call for the dress to be knee length, but I plan to make it shorter. Just a preference! And it’s such an easy fix.
Indoor photography is my weakness but I was trying to give a more contextually accurate photoshoot. I couldn’t come up with any way for me to be outside, in natural light, in a nightgown. Other testers did and totally schooled me on my train of thought though. Damnit, haha.
I suppose I’m pretty happy with the results. Step outside of your comfort zone, Katy!
Plus, any excuse to include this fabulous antique couch is worth it too, right?
Another confession? I totally tried to do Victory Rolls in my hair for this shoot. I thought it would be the cutest thing ever. Except…when I put my hair in them, failed hard, and realized maybe bangs and victory rolls don’t match. There goes my pinup girl hopes and dreams. Ha!
With the launch of the Luna set, it’s on sale this week! So make sure to get in on it now. Tami also created a girl’s version to go along with the women’s…think: Mommy + Me jammie sets! Oh the possibilities of cuteness!
