If you’re confused as to why I’m posting Christmas sews in August…it’s not because I’m confused. Or crazy. (Not this time!) Custom print groups have to think way in advance when working with their printers. So even though it seems like they’re several holidays ahead, they’re actually right on time.
Vintage Lace has done it again. They sent me a panel from their upcoming Christmas Part II run. At first glance I was all “I’m not a fan of panels. What the crap am I supposed to do with this?” And then, a lightbulb went off. And I basically created the world’s cutest hoodie for Louis. EVER.
^^I totally thought all of our pictures would be adorable in front of the woodpile. And then I realized that we were limited on space, so we moved. But seriously. Hello handsome.
Louis was such a champ during photos. Not a single complaint. And I put him in thick fabrics, long sleeves, with a hood, jeans, and close-toed shoes. Kiddo can deliver.
I used the YoHo Henley pattern from Patterns for Pirates. In size 6 (waaaah!) which is Louis’ size now since he won’t stop growing. We left off the henley placket, and instead overlapped the hood slightly at the neckline. The best part about the YoHo is that it already comes with all of the options we used. Minus the kangaroo pocket. I just whipped that one up myself.
I LOVE this idea for panels now. At least for this type of panel. I mean, how perfect is it to add just a small pop of fun on an already awesome shirt? I literally squeeeeeezed every bit of this fabric out that I could. Pretty much, Vintage Lace helped me not have to hem this shirt at all. I lined the hood with this panel fabric. I gave him cuffs. And of course that adorbs kanga pocket.
I asked Louis if he were a model, what pose he would use. It’s a little Saturday Night Fever/John Travolta. But I’m okay with that. Lou’s pose game is strong.
Keep your eyes PEELED for the opening of preorders for their Christmas line. I have some more of Vintage Lace’s delicious fabric to make something for myself. So I’ll be sure to share that when the time comes too.
Preorders for Christmas Part II opens August 23. Which is practically tomorrow. Get those ordering fingers ready, ladies!!
