Woohoo! We’ve reached yet another release day for Patterns for Pirates. And this one is JUST for the kiddos! We’ve gone and updated the original Jolly Roger Raglan to have some new features (you can read all about them on the P4P blog HERE) and we created a new add-on pack for the JRR! So fun!
It’s not a shock when I say that I love making raglans for Louis. They are scattered allllll over this blog, and within his wardrobe. They’re the fastest, cutest, easiest way to mix/match fabrics and create something more than just a “basic” looking tee. I love them to death! The Jolly Roger has just enough of a relaxed fit, that it goes perfectly with these add-ons. So you can basically make your kiddo a hoodie if you’d like and it’d fit them perfectly for this upcoming fall/winter season!
^^ I’ve mentioned before that Louis has been into making his own poses for pictures, right? He’s KILLING me with some of these. So much drama and personality in one little person, I tell ya!
Louis thought that the thumbholes (included in the add-on pack!) were SO COOL. But it was also crazy muggy and rainy while we were taking photos and he quickly decided that maybe this shirt is better off in the winter. He’s still a trooper for letting me get these shots of him.
All together in this one shirt, we used the kangaroo pocket, the cross-over funnel hood, and the thumbhole cuffs. I didn’t realize how cute the funnel hood was until I put it on Louis. Something about that little added cross-over makes it extra sweet on him. Or am I just Mommy goggles-ing it too much right now? (Newsflash: I always am!)
If you were ever wondering where a good place to start with sewing apparel is, I would 100% recommend a raglan style shirt. The sleeves are so easy to handle (because they aren’t set in like a traditional shirt sleeve) and they come together super quickly. To celebrate all-things-raglan…and to encourage more crazy raglan sewing, we are having a P4P Raglan Week over at Patterns for Pirates! All week, we are bringing you little hacks, tricks and special things related to raglans.
So basically what I’m saying is that if you’ve ever wanted to start sewing…. a) Raglans are where it’s at. AND b) This would be a great week to do so!!
