Breakfast at Tiffany’s | RP Custom Fabrics

May 2, 2017

Those girls over at RP Custom Fabrics sent me some more strikeoffs to sew up and I finally get to share what I made!  They are running a round of fabrics with inspiration drawn from some cult classic movies (Pretty Woman, Pretty in Pink and Breakfast At Tiffany’s).  I was sent some of Tiffany’s Damask and this is what I stitched up!

I only had a yard of this gorgeous print to work with.  I thought about going with a classic Audrey silhouette but I struggled for inspiration for a dress like hers that wasn’t straight black.  To me, Audrey’s dresses are so classic black.  I didn’t want to touch it.

My final decision was to play up the whole pearl + bows + glasses + hat that is Iconic Audrey, and throw a little Katy flavor into it.

I used the Patterns for Pirates Favorite Tee, in the curved top length.  And made zero adjustments, except for the sleeves.  I couldn’t resist adding a bow somewhere.  So I added bows on both sleeves as a hem.  LOVE it.  It’s such a sweet, simple detail.  And requires zero hemming.  Totally up my alley.

Psssst….I totally plan to make this into a tutorial on the P4P blog.  So keep an eye out for that when I do!

And don’t worry.  I am completely aware of how dorky I am in all of these photos.  I don’t know how to pull of hats and glasses, much less at the same time.  Plus, I have the world’s LARGEST noggin…and average people’s hats don’t fit on my head.

Seriously, Universe?  Huge calves, huge head, huge boobs….smaller than average earholes for earbud headphones (they for real hurt so bad to wear).  Why couldn’t you bring me the slightest bit of balance?  RUDE.

Sara and her team have these amazing prints on pre-sale through May 14.  So you have a little time, but not a ton.  So don’t drag your feet.  I know you want to wait until last minute…but just don’t.  Fight the urge to procrastinate just this once.

😉 Thanks. Fierce feels like a stretch for my goofy grin, but I’ll take it!

I feel you, girl. I also have an especially large head. No hats for me. Except sometime Columbia helps me out and throws a size XL my way 🙁
But this adorable and I love the bow sleeves!
