Whenever something big happens and I start to feel super sad / angry / down / helpless, it always helps me to create something that has a positive message to it. It might sound silly, but forcing myself to find a positive message during a less-than-positive time makes me a little more hopeful. I wish I didn’t ever feel the need to make these things. But here we are again.
I don’t think I need to tell you why racism is bad. I hate that I have to explain to my almost 7-year old what racism even is. But I feel like the people on the other side of the fence aren’t exactly holding anything back around their kids. So we talk to him. A lot. And let him ask questions. It’s our duty to teach Louis about other points of views and hold open conversations on why putting down another gender / race / orientation / religion just because they’re different than you is not okay. These aren’t conversations I’d ever imagined having with my sweet, giant-hearted boy. But we feel that they are important. So we do it.
