I have three letters for you:
W. V. U.
When Sara (from RP Custom Fabrics) showed us her tartans that she was running, I could not volunteer fast enough for the blue and gold version. Seriously though. If you live in West Virginia, you can’t have enough blue and gold in your closet. And if you’re me, you can’t have enough plaid in your closet. This was a total win for me.

I was only sent a fat half of the tartan to play with, but it NEEDED to become a new shirt to wear on game days. And every day in between. I used the P4P Sweetheart Peplum, and hacked it into a henley style bodice. And then I went a little extra with the details…including lace on the button placket, mix-matched gold buttons, and a heart applique on the skirt.
I asked one of my besties if she thought it was a little over-the-top. She said yes, but in a good way. So I’ll take it! Haha. Sometimes you need some extra va-va-voom, especially to mix up your sewing a little.

If you haven’t checked out all of the tartans available yet, you probably should. Because they’re AMAZING. The color combos are perfect for any sports fan out there, and for any fan of plaid in general. I love all of them so much!
You can get in on the pre-order from now until September 15 on RP Custom Fabric’s site HERE. And make sure to join their Facebook group so you can stay in the know.
As for my sewing pattern?
It’s the Sweetheart Dress + Peplum from Patterns for Pirates. One of my favorites!
