The news this morning was a hard one to wake up to. My heart hurts for the victims, families, concert-goers, first responders, Las Vegas community, and our great nation. I’ll try to keep my political opinions out of this as much as I can, but it’s pretty obvious that things like this shouldn’t continue to happen.
I hate that people always want to know the “why”. I get it. It’s human nature. You want to know why a person would do something so horrible. But I feel like “why” humanizes their actions and I don’t want to give any credit to this monster. This coward. I only want to know the “how”.
How did we let this happen? How did it become possible? How did someone not see the signs? How did this person hold so much hate, or whatever it was, in his heart? HOW?
Everyone works through tragedies in their own ways. Mine is this. I HOPE.
I HOPE that we can stop domestic terrorism.
I HOPE that this doesn’t create a greater divide.
I HOPE that people stop taking for granted the beautiful things they already have in their lives.
I HOPE our politicians can find a way to reach across the aisle and work together.
I HOPE we stop and go out of our way to help our neighbors more often.
I HOPE we open up and hold calm, thoughful conversations with people of differing opinions.
I HOPE events like this don’t create so much fear that people won’t leave their homes and enjoy their lives.
I HOPE. I hope so hard.
This design is yours if you want it. And really just another coping mechanism of mine. Please keep it for personal use only, the point was just to put out a positive/hopeful message when it’s hard to do much else.
Las Vegas, we are thinking about you. We are talking about you.
And we are talking with our Representatives about you.
