Have I driven home the idea yet that I love Halloween? Well, I do. I so do.
But I also love the final day, when we get to wear our costumes, trick or treat, eat all the candy, and then close that chapter of the beginning of the “holiday season”. The final hurrah on the last day of the month!
We totally enjoyed trick or treating with Lou. It was just the three of us this year and we hit up as many houses as we could. It was SO COLD this year, and after about 3/4 of the trip we planned on taking around the neighborhood, Louis was like, “I have enough candy, can we go home?” Haha. That kid. Enough candy? Whose child is he?
I will admit that I was a little disappointed in myself for not finishing Bennett’s costume completely. I didn’t actually calculate the yardage I needed for both his and Lou’s costume…so I didn’t have enough black to make his pants. And I also started his outfit the day before Halloween. So….fail on all parts. But if you look up “New Xavier School Cyclops”, you can see who I was shooting for. Our little trio of XMen weren’t too shabby, though. Even if no one knew who we were. Louis had only one person get excited about a “mini Quicksilver”. Other than that, nada.
On Friday of last week, we got to head to Lou’s school again and bring the kids a little magic with some Witches Brew. My mom dresses up and has a whole story/script she goes through with the littles. “Goblin goo” and “green grasshopper juice” are some of the extras she puts into it. The kids love it, and apparently the adults do too! Haha, we had a ton of parents as an audience this year and they all thought it was pretty neat.
Lou loves that he gets to be Nana’s helper during all of it too. His special little thing.
My mom used to do this exact show for my brother, sister and myself when we were younger. And I love that she’s bringing this tradition to a new generation. Maybe one day, she’ll have to teach me her ways and I can take over for her. It’d be fun to keep it going as long as we can!
Saturday, we held our 8th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party. I totally failed to get any good photos of the night. But I do have some pumpkins to share!

All in all, October was a total win. So much fun. And I can’t wait for next year so we can whoop it up all over again with pumpkins, and dorky shirts, and creative costumes!
