Slouchy Headwarmer :: 2017 Holiday Freebies with Patterns for Pirates
Dec 4, 2017
I am over on the Patterns for Pirates blog ALL WEEK, giving our customers and readers free patterns! Today is the official kickoff of our freebies and I tutorial-ed my way through this super cute Slouchy Headwarmer. The best part about this pattern is that it’s just a square piece of fabric that you twist and sew, and you can wear it four different ways! So fun, right?
Possibly my favorite part of this headwarmer is that I made it using fabric that I designed! Fair Isle Sewing Machines in Christmas colors? ALL THE YES. (Rumor has it that Vintage Lace still has some of this available for retail….so you might want to get in on that!)
**As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended. Thanks for helping to feed my sewing habits!
Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended. Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you. Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits. Thank you for your support!

I am very tempted to attempt making a few of these for friends but I havent sewn in over 12 years and honestly dont know what a good tech-ish fabric would be…or how much fabric you would need for 6 of these…or if they would look okay on the guys…or if my mom’s sewing machine even works right now.
I think you could easily tackle this project, not having any sewing experience. Personally, I’d say that it wouldn’t really be a “guys” pattern, only because of the twist. I did draft up a pattern for a slouchy beanie that we released as a freebie last year that’s perfect for men! http://www.patternsforpirates.com/free-beanie-tutorial/

A sewing friend of mine sent me a photo of this adorable sweater, with no sleeve seam, a cross-over front and back, and a "batwing" style dolman sleeve. And I was obsessed with the idea of turning that rtw sweater into a sewing pattern. And that's what I did! Meet:...
