Boy do I have a treat for you! The Wild Bunch Hats is something that I designed for personal use way back when, and now decided to write it all down and turn it into a full blown pattern for my Wild+Wanderful fam! It’s such an easy pattern to tackle and I think you’re going to love it. What’s better than a fun, cute way to keep your noggin covered?

This beginner sewing pattern is a fun take on headgear. The pattern fits any head sizes XS – XL, which covers 16″ – 24″ in circumference (size chart measurements AND finished measurements are included in pattern download). The hat features “earflap” covers, a longer length in the back for more coverage and MULTIPLE faces/details to add to your very own hat!
Critters for which the tutorial/pattern pieces are provided:
- Robot
- Owl
- Monkey
- Monster
- Fox
- Raccoon
- Penguin
With this download, you will receive an easy-to-print, color coded pattern with a NO TRIM page feature. You will also be able to turn on/off layers so you can print only the size you need. The files include three print formats: Letter, A4, and Projector formats PLUS a full-color, step-by-step tutorial file.

**Updated 8/2/2026: I couldn’t leave you hanging without a video tutorial to go with this as well!
A Little Backstory: The Wild Bunch Hat video tutorial was originally released during a MakerSpace Sewing Retreat. That retreat was all about sewing for fun, trying new things, and just enjoying the process. While MakerSpace has since closed, I didn’t want this video to disappear along with it. So here it is, in all it’s glory…to go alongside my beloved Wild Bunch Hat pattern that has been around for several years now. Enjoy!
I hope you love it! Remember to tag #wildandwanderfulblog / @wildandwanderfulblog when you make something from this pattern, so I can see your brilliant work!
Here are a couple versions that the Wild+Wanderful community stitched up for themselves. I cannot love them more than I do!
