Rebels & Imperials

Feb 28, 2018

Allow me to introduce you to the fabric that I threatened to fight people over if I didn’t get it.  (I’m not joking in the least bit.)

RP Custom Fabrics made my heart grow three sizes when this arrived in the mail.  If you haven’t noticed before, we are huge Star Wars junkies in our house.  And not just the “I like the movies” type…but the full blown “we’ve watched every animated series, own all of the comics/graphic novels, and discuss the political nature of it like it was happening in real life” type.  It actually hurts my heart when people call Ewoks little bears, or confuse the droids with each other.  Wish I were kidding.  I’m in too deep.

Anyway, Sara shared an image of this round and I was like I NEED THIS NOW.  And I did.  I really did.

My biggest struggle was deciding to turn this into a dress or a skirt.  Ultimately I went with skirt…because I figured I could get more use out of it.  I can easily pair it with a long sleeved, short sleeved, or tank top depending on the time of year.  So glad I went this way.  Because now I can wear it allllll the time.

If you don’t remember what Sara has brilliantly done with some of her prints, I can remind you a little bit about it.  She has taken some AMAZING designs and printed them as rounds.  So when you want to make an incredible circle skirt / top — she’s done the hard work for you and made it so the print is never upside down or sideways.  Brilliant, am I right?

I love the design too.  They mixed in some Imperial Cogs with Rebel Starbirds and it’s just so perfect.

It was cold outside when I was taking pictures and I thought it’d be fun to photograph this skirt in Bennett’s comicbook room.  Except it’s a small space and my camera and I weren’t being the best of friends.  I was all “let me grab this Boba Fett novel to make some cute/dorky pictures with, Bennett will love it.”  And then I showed it to him and he was all “but why did you pick the book that is non-canonical”.  UGHHHHH, haha.  I just didn’t nerd well enough for him.  Damnit.

I’ll try harder next time.
