You know that one color that you always avoid because you think it’d look horrible with your own personal coloring? Pink is it for me. I worry about it being too close to the pinks in my own complexion. My hair is basically a darker shade of pink. And I’m actually more of a blue tone (which I learned when I was on the hunt for the perfect red lipstick). However, I used to feel the same way about red and now I love wearing reds, so I’ve decided that I’m going to just “go for it” and attempt to pair some pinks into my daily wardrobe.
Plus, Molly Ringwald totally pulled off a pink polkadot dress in Pretty in Pink with her gorgeous red hair. Maybe I can too?
The Sly Fox Fabrics team sent me this super cute polkadot print in a double brushed poly and I was so excited to turn it into a dress. It’s summer. It’s hot. And I’m avoiding wearing pants to work as much as possible.
We actually had a huge launch party for a rebrand at work and I wanted something to wear for it. I did end up throwing a blazer over it for the event, but I made this adorable M4M Mama Joy and it got me through all of the preliminary event set-up nonsense, as well as the party itself. The pleats sell this pattern for me. It elevates it a little bit from a basic dress to something a little extra. It was a perfect outfit to wear that day!
