Has there ever been a fabric that is so “you” that you can’t decide what to make with it? That was me, with this vertical striped DBP that Sly Fox Fabrics sent my way. I almost even considered turning it into pants of some sort…but then I realized that I spend most of my days in an office right now and purple striped pants would probably not get as much use as they should.
So I asked my biggest fan: Louis. And he said, “You should make a dress, Momma! Purple is your color!”
Guess what Momma did? Momma made a dress.
Team Sly Fox asked us to theme our makes around Back to School. I might not be back in school, but the rest of my house is. Bennett is currently pursuing his degree in Elementary Education, and Louis is pursuing his degree in 2nd Grade. And I’m still trying to figure out how to be an out-of-the-home working mom. We are a one car family with three people who are running opposite directions pretty much at all times.
And frankly, I’m exhausted. So I themed my “back to school” sewing around some time with my girls. I wanted to make something I could see myself wearing while meeting the girls for some drinks out. On a school night. :: imagine the shocked look emoji face thing here ::

I love a good tshirt dress. They’re easy to wear, comfortable, and still cute. It’s got that whole “I just threw this on” element, while still keeping you super sassy and cute. The perfect storm. So I created this dress from one of my favorite tshirt patterns right now: the Favorite Tee. It was named that for a reason.
I’m pretty smitten with this cutie. Even if my legs are the same color as the garage door that I accidentally blended into…..ha.
Pattern: Favorite Tee by Patterns for Pirates
Fabric: Purple Vertical Striped dbp from Sly Fox Fabrics
Love the purple stripes… they really make your hair pop! Also, I’m in love with the hemline of the favorite tee dress. It’s my go to for extending other tops into dresses!
