One of our biggest struggles with Louis being in a private school is the uniform side of it. I mean, it’s not that difficult to put your child in a polo shirt and khakis every day. BUT, I haaaaaaaate buying polo shirts. They’re so boring. And I refuse to make them because they’re so boring. Solid colored polo shirts are officially the nemesis of my sewing personality.
Why are polo shirts easier to find in short sleeves than long? Even during the cold months, short sleeves are all we can find. And let’s be honest…we don’t always do the laundry fast enough to have the long sleeved ones always ready to wear again the next week. Finally, a sewing solution! I can make him sweaters to wear over them!
Boho Fabrics has an entire section dedicated to “masculine fabrics” now, and they were sweet enough to send me this super soft ribbed knit to play with for Louis. It’s juuuuust solid enough to get away with letting Louis wear it to school as a sweater over his short-sleeved polo. How perfect is this? I get to still make him things, but it doesn’t have to be a polo shirt! RAISE THE ROOF!
Louis loves it, and his parents think he’s pretty darn adorable in a sweater. So everyone wins in this situation.
