Does anyone else still have trouble writing “2019” on things? I can’t be the only one, right?
I am doing my best to stay on top of things this year (this 2019 year, ha) and have actually managed to sew, photograph and now blog the Threads of the Month fabric that I sent out to my subscribers this month! GO ME!
What is Threads of the Month?
Threads of the Month is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!
- Receive!
- Sew!
As a lover of fabric and sewing and color, my goal is to deliver some amazing fabrics to you — of which you can turn around and make some amazing threads for yourself. Each month, you will receive 2-yards of knit fabrics (on varying bases) in the mail. Most of the time it will be a continuous 2-yard length, but we might surprise you with some coordinating prints from time to time.
**updated 08/31/22: I retired TOTM and re-opened under the Patterns for Pirates name: Fabric for Pirates! Same concept, same awesome happy fabric mail, just a new name!
This month’s fabric is one of my favorites! But to be honest, I think they’re all my favorites….so there’s that.
With Valentine’s Day coming, I thought it would be fun to send something with pinks and reds in it, but not so overpoweringly themed to the holiday that you wouldn’t otherwise wear it. When I found this striped ribbed knit, my heart skipped a beat. It’s so sweet and has a little bit of a retro vibe to it, and I NEEDED to have it.
I decided to make a Grandpa Cardi from Patterns for Pirates for myself. The fabric has a great drape, amazing stretch and recovery, and I thought would look super cute as an overlayer. I was right. I’m not even a “layers girl” and I still like this a lot. Especially in the tunic length….for a little extra cozy feel to a cardigan.
I paired it with a plain black Made for Mermaid’s Women's Mya tank, with one of my *new* Valentine’s Day designs that I have in the shop! I am absolutely loving this combo and will be back for more, don’t you worry.
I am dying to see what everyone made with their TOTM this month!! What would you make with this
