I haven’t always been the first person to seek out an off-the-shoulder top. But I think the latest pattern from Made for Mermaids might be changing that. Let’s talk about the Deanna Dolman!
The Mermaid team just launched this pattern and it’s so perfect, especially for this time of year. It features a dolman style sleeve, which makes it a quick sew and even great for beginners to tackle. And it is honestly the best thing to pair with a sweater knit because of the forgiving ease and off-the-shoulder element. Think comfy + sexy at the same time.
It’s like a dream come true.

I would say that I think Deanna pairs well with skinnies, but I think everything pairs with skinnies. So I suppose I’m not the best judge when it comes to that. (Side note: I used to think I couldn’t pull off skinny jeans so never wore them. And now it’s all I own.)
But also let me tell you that Deanna pairs well with skinnies. Balancing a looser top with a slimmer bottom is super flattering.
The neckline of this pattern is finished differently than other patterns, in that it is hemmed and not banded. It’s one less piece to cut and actually speeds up the assembly process a bit. One of those people who fear neckbands? The boatneck, non banded style that comes with this version of the pattern will be a solid win for you. Ready to try it?
