It’s been a shamefully long amount of time since I last sewed, photographed and shared something on the blog. But I’m breaking out of my funk with some really beautifully, bright, colorful fabric that just SCREAMS summer. What better way to make a comeback than with this cutie?
If there is anything I love in my wardrobe, it’s stripes and bright, happy colors. This rayon/spandex blend covers all of the bases. And the fact that it’s a rayon/spandex is pretty stellar as well. I know that this fabric base doesn’t always get the amount of love it should in the sewing community, but it’s actually a base that I seek out. I like the stretch and drape of it. A lot. And I love that it’s breathable.
Perfectly perfect for a summer tanktop.

I decided that it needed to become an Ella Tank from Made for Mermaids. Ella was one of the first tests I did with M4M, back in my early days with that crew. And since then, I’ve made a couple of the different versions. However I think this new striped version might be up there as a favorite, alongside this Mya/Ella mash.
Do you ever feel like you get into a sewing funk? Where all of the things you’ve been sewing are kind of the same thing over and over again?
By simply choosing the hem with the tied front, it feels like I broke out of it a little bit. So many of my tops have a curved hem. Which I LOVE. SO. MUCH. But I needed a little shakeup.
What would you have made with this happy little fabric?
