I don’t know what would compel me to put more photos of myself on the internet in swimwear…..but I’m back, friends! And in a swimsuit again!
Sly Fox Fabrics sent me some swim + coverup fabric combos to help provide some inspiration for their customers during their Summer Fun Sale, and all the ended up doing was inspiring me to dream about beach vacations. I mean, can you blame me?
I asked myself, “Self? What is it that you like in a coverup for the beach or pool?”
And then I realized that I wanted something flowy, that can be worn open or closed, didn’t have any ties that I could lose (which I will), and could also be worn as an everyday piece of clothing….since I don’t exactly get to the beach or pool that often.
All of those things added up to me creating a Summer Coverup, and making a few adjustments so I could squeeze it onto one yard of fabric. Which meant I cut the sleeves down to a much shorter length. And then also took a bit of width off of the hips, so it would fit onto my yardage. It ended up making the kimono a bit slimmer than it normally is, but still had more than enough room to be able to add these snaps down the front for easy closure.
And also for easy opening!
I cut this at the robe length, and it’s more than long enough to be comfortable to walk around in without any bottoms on. Sometimes I just don’t want to be bottomless while I’m getting to and from my swimming spot. But this length is perfect for me to feel like my butt is covered while getting around. Plus the colors on this floral are gorgeous!

Perhaps I should talk about the swimsuit a little bit, huh? Sly Fox Fabrics has a new matte black swimsuit fabric that is stunning. Sometimes swim fabrics have too much sheen to them. The matte is such a nice addition to my ever-growing drawer of swimwear. AND, having a simple black suit is such a staple piece!
